The Porsche 356 BT5 coupe for sale was designed by Ferry Porsche based on the Volkswagen Beetle. The Porsche 356 was the first car of the German Porsche brand from 1948 to 1965 with 76,000 units. Designed by Erwin Komenda, its agility, lightness and manufacturing quality will give Porsche a strong reputation, as is its air-cooled four-cylinder Boxer engine. It will first be available in coupes and convertibles, then in speedster, its power ranging from 40 horsepower for the first models to 155 horsepower for the Porsche 356 Carrera 2000 GS/GT. Four different series will be produced including the Porsche 356 pre-A from 1948 to 1955, produced in coupe and convertible, first in Austria and then in Stuttgart. Its version Speedster 356 will be created in 1954 for the US Porsche importer who wanted a more streamlined and affordable version, following the huge success of the brand in the United States, especially with movie stars such as James Dean Model before using the Porsche 550 competition model. The second 356 A model, produced from 1956 to 1959, will be available in coupe, convertible, speedster and convertible D, 356 B from 1960 to 1963 and 356 C from 1964 To 1965.
Thanks to its agility and its weight, the Porsche 356 will experience an impressive success in racing, often in front of more powerful cars. Its most famous victories are the European Rally Championship 1953 and 1961, the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1951 and 1952 category 1.1 liters, Liège-Rome-Liège 1952, 1954, 1957 and 1959, the Alpine Cup 1953 and 1956, the Grand Prize of Berlin 1954 and 1955, the Nürburgring 1955, the Nassau Tourist Trophy 1959, the 9 Hours of South Africa 1958, the 1,000 kilometers of Catalonia 1958, 1959 and 1963 or five Ladies' Cups Tour de France between 1954 and 1961. The model that we present for sale is a Porsche 356 BT5 coupe of 1961. This BT5 model, created at the end of 1959 will represent a great evolution for the vintage 60 with new body, higher headlights, larger shock absorbers, bigger turn signal and hood handle, back plate illumination on the bumper, recessed light in the body under this bumper, and standard deflectors on the coupe. The interior is also revisited with the possibility of having a sunroof, now electric, a new steering wheel of different color and dashboard control buttons becoming black. The range sees a new Roadster model (evolution of the Convertible D and successor of the Speedster), manufactured by Drauz and D'Ieteren. The Porsche 356 BT5 will have 3 bodies in coupe, the production of which is subcontracted to Reutter and Karmann, convertible and roadster, as well as hardtop coupe produced by Karmann with cabriolet body welded with metal hardtop. The line of the Porsche 356 BT5, produced over two years, will not be the most slender, but its personality will be strong. Its engine is also new for the Super 90 and which develops 90 hp in addition to the 1600 (60 hp) and 1600 S (75 hp).
