About

The Jaguar E 3.8 liters roadster series 1 flat floor was presented in Geneva in March 1961. This classic car is considered a true architectural masterpiece which, more than fifty years later, still reveals a surprising modernity. The Jaguar XK150 S 3.8 l, a six-cylinder, 3.8-liter, 265-hp engine, is both beautiful and affordable, being twice as expensive as a Mercedes 300 SL and more compared to The Aston Martin DB4, which will be a success, with all the stars in the world wishing to own a Type E, particularly in America, where more than 80% of the cars produced will be delivered.

The production of 1961 and the beginning of 1962 will however be limited and it was during this period that the Jaguar Type E convertible 3.8 liters Flat Floor proposed for sale was produced. This unofficial name is the most desirable for any type E enthusiast. This rare model is recognizable in 1961 by its lateral hood closures opening with a small T-key. These closures will be replaced by the As a result of elements internal to the vehicle. 1962 marked the appearance of inking points for the seat belts and the floor, now hollow, will be modified in order to provide better habitability in the legs. Jaguar launched the Jaguar E Series 2 in 1968, to overcome the new security and anti-pollution requirements demanded by the US. Its 4.2-liter engine now has two Zenith-Stromberg carburettors instead of the To reduce the vehicle's pollutant emissions, which will only produce 175 horsepower. Enhanced passenger protection will also be introduced, with larger bumpers and grille, uncured headlamps and less refined interior, which distort the aesthetic fluidity of this new Jaguar E. In order to regain a power worthy of a Jaguar , The automaker will launch in 1970 the Series 3 with a V12 engine 5.3 liters of 272 horses. The Jaguar E will give way to the XJS in 1975.

The car that we present for sale is the most desirable model of all the Jaguar E convertible, the 3.8 liter Flat Floor produced at a few hundred units. Totally restored and matching numbers it is in concours condition, and its mechanics works perfectly.
