The BMW Sauber C29 is a Formula 1 single-seater entered by the BMW Sauber f1 team in the Formula 1 World Championship and presented on 31 January 2010 at the Valencia circuit. It is driven by Spain's Pedro De La Rosa, Japan's Kamui Kobayashi and Germany's Nick Heidfeld, who replaces Rosa from the Singapore Grand Prix. At the beginning of the season, the C29 is unreliable and we have to wait for the Turkish Grand Prix before Kamui Kobayashi scores the first point of the season with his tenth place. From the second half of the championship, race results improve and the C29 finishes regularly in points. The team finished eighth in the world championship with 44 points. In deciding in 2009 to withdraw from the Formula 1 World Championship, the BMW manufacturer, in the absence of a reliable buyer for his BMW Sauber F1 Team, is forced to enter into negotiations with the Swiss group Qadbak Investments, which has a sulphurous reputation. But Peter Sauber is the only other potential customer and BMW is offering to buy back his former team, provided he enters the world championship. The name BMW Sauber will be retained even if this Formula 1 BMW Sauber C29 is powered by Ferrari. On 21 June 2010, Peter Sauber will officially ask the Formula 1 Commission of the FIA to abandon the mention BMW in the name of his team, with BMW Sauber F1 Team remaining the official name of the team until the end of the 2010 season, before becoming Sauber Motorsport in 2011.
