The Bugatti Chiron is the most powerful supercar descendant of the Bugatti Veyron 16.42, a car from the French manufacturer Bugatti, its name deriving from the Monegasque car driver Louis Chiron (1899-1979). The chassis is inspired by the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept car and the Bugatti Type 57. Presented at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Bugatti Chiron is based on the Veyron 16.4's W16 engine block, improved piece by piece to increase power and torque without changing the displacement. Thanks to the 1,500 horsepower of its engine, the Bugatti Chiron has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.3 kg/hp and a torque-to-weight ratio of 802 Nm/t, which allows it to reach a speed limited electronically by the manufacturer to 420 km/hour. It could reach 500 km/h if its tires could withstand. The manufacturer planned to produce 500 copies, 220 of which were ordered and one delivered in 2016 (300 ordered and 70 delivered in 2017). The Bugatti Chiron broke the world record of 0-400-0 km/h in 41.96 s for a production car in 2017, with the Molsheim-based manufacturer planning to beat the current Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport record of 431.072 km/h in 2010 by 2018.
